About

Hi! My name is Daneva and I recently graduated from Brown University with an Sc.B. in cognitive neuroscience. I have 8 years of experience tutoring my peers in the maths and sciences in middle school through to high school. I really enjoy helping students excel in subjects that they initially find impossible, but just take some patience!

I began tutoring peers when I was in the fifth grade and continued to tutor through to the end of high school. I have tutored students in algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus, and biology. During college, I mentored underclassmen through my school Black Student Union mentorship program and served as a Meiklejohn Peer Advisor through which I advised a cohort of 5 first-year students on how to navigate their new academic and social environment at Brown.

Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student I like to have an introductory meeting first where we discuss the student's needs, goals, and expectations. This meeting allows me to get a better understanding of how I can best help the student. It also allows us to get to know each other before working together.

I have tutored since I was in middle school. I have received A's in all of the subjects for which I offer tutoring.

My starting rate is $50/hour

I have worked with students ranging from grades 2-12. I have also worked with students with different learning abilities such as those with ADHD.

A recent event that I am fond of is Simone Biles creating her own move in gymnastics, called "The Biles". It is amazing to see how the world is recognizing her as the G.O.A.T. in her field.

Pick a tutor that you are comfortable with asking questions. One of the worst things that a student can experience is feeling too afraid to ask their tutor questions. This only serves to impede their learning.

Some questions that students should think through

How do I like to learn?

How do I like to receive help with my learning?

What goals do I have for myself?
