About
My service stands out because I offer online tutoring or in-person tutoring at my house, the tutees house, or a public location.
Because of my 31 years of teaching experience I am familiar with NYS Learning Standards for high school mathematics.
I am a certified secondary mathematics teacher with 31 years of teaching experience. I retired last June so I have a flexible schedule. I love working one on one with students where I have the ability to check for understanding and re-teach when necessary. I feel incredible satisfaction when my student understands.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process is to ask the student what they need help with and then go from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a masters degree in Mathematics Education and 31 years of teaching experience. I've done a lot of tutoring over these 31 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing is $60/hr if you come to me. If I travel my hourly rate will be higher based on how far I need to travel.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching when I was studying Chemical Engineering as an undergrad. I always found myself teaching friends. I completed my degree and went on to get my master's in mathematics education. I've been teaching ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught students needing remediation all the way to accelerated students and everything in between. I have taught 7th graders through adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently received a very kind and thoughtful message from a student I taught years ago. She is a senior at UB studying musical theater. She thanked me for my patience in teaching her and for being interested in her life outside of a mathematics classroom. She absolutely made my day.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise students looking for a mathematics tutor to interview potential tutors to get a vibe and then go with the one they feel most comfortable with. I would then advise them to give the tutor a chance because results don't always come overnight. Also, an hour of tutoring cannot make up for lack of consistent effort on the students end.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think about what problems or ideas or concepts they need help with. The student needs to have a sense of where their trouble spots are so the tutor can work with them in these areas.
