What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student we set up an initial meeting in which we dicuss the course, math history, and set goals. I always bring my own material to work with students on thier math skills, but also review students homework and pass exams. With parents permission I will reach out to the student's math teacher and work together to help student achieve success.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor and Masters Degree in Math Education. Tutoring since 2009. 7 years teaching experience in private high school. 4 years teaching experience in an online high school. Parent.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard rate is $30 a session, however if student books regular session discounted price of $25 a session.
How did you get started teaching?
Graduated from Niagara University.Teaching in private highschool and tutoring. Became a parent ( 3 times). Changed careers to teaching mathematics online, being a stay-at-home-mom and continued tutoring local students.
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels of students from those who struggle with math to those that are taking AP level math courses. Worked with multiple students studying for SAT math exams and GED math exam.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that can connect with you on a personal and education level. Not someone who tells you the answers, but helps you learn how to develop your skill set to be successful.
