About

Hello! I recently graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in English from Medaille College in Buffalo, NY. I am also a certified teacher through Magic Ears University (accredited by ACCREDITAT), with a focus in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL/TESOL).

During my time in college, I have been told by many peers and mentors that I am very compassionate with other students, and that my help with tutoring them inside and outside the classroom helped improve their grades in their courses. I like to think outside the box, and enjoy problem-solving by approaching difficult situations and topics while utilizing various strategies and modes of thought.

I can help you strengthen your composition skills (i.e., grammar; spelling; vocabulary; proofreading; formatting; and editing). I would also enjoy helping you with analyzing literature and passages from plays, poems, novels, and other major resources. Also, I can help you study for tests by quizzing you with material that you are already learning in your current classes.

I'm very excited to be here so I can help supplement your education in any way that I can. I would love to get to know you as a student, and as an individual. I believe that it is very important to have a connection with others and establish a good rapport: Building personal relationships with others is a way to help motivate you, so that you are able to challenge yourself in a healthy way, and accomplish the goals that you have set for yourself. I care about your success, and I hope that I can be a helpful resource to you in your academic career.

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I ask them what their goals are for their classes, and we take some time to brainstorm together to come up with a strategy for accomplishing small tasks along the way in order to achieve their goals. No matter how small or how big the job is, I am willing to work with them every step of the way.

I have a teaching certification through Magic Ears University: It is an all-online, 120-hour course, specializing in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), sponsored by Cambridge University. The course taught me how go about teaching students of all ages (5+), with lesson plan examples, and how to execute classroom management strategies. Currently, I am a part-time Professional Tutor and Supplemental Instructor at Villa Maria College in Buffalo, NY, so I put these skills to use in a higher education setting.

My quote per session is $18.00/hr. with the initial interview phone call/video call done through Skype at no cost to you. The initial interview is free because I want you to be confident in choosing me as your student's tutor. If for some reason you don't feel like I would be a good fit for your student, then you won't have to worry about asking for your money back.

I recently started my teaching career with Villa Maria College in Buffalo, NY. This is a private college with a special focus in Arts degrees. Primarily, I work with students who are just out of high school (18+), or older. I provide supplementary instruction in tandem with my Supervising Teacher's plans. If there is something that the students would like more focus on, I make up a lesson plan for said subject, and explain it in more detail. I also provide private one-on-one tutoring through the Student Success Center (SSC) if the students are feeling to shy to ask questions in class, or if they just need extra help with a specific problem.

Primarily, I work with students who are 18 years of age or older, but I am also willing to work with younger students as well (Elementary, Middle, and High school level).

During my last semester at Medaille College in Buffalo, NY, I was in a course for my Senior Thesis research project. The instructor put us into assigned groups: My classmates and I would read each others essays and provide feedback on the other student's writing. We were free to tell each other what we thought was really good, just okay, or not so great about our writing. One student I worked with a couple of times throughout the semester asked my instructor if he could work with me specifically for the rest of the semester. From what I was told, this student appreciated my feedback the most and said that he learned more about how to write more effectively in order to properly construct his research. My instructor also told me that other students I have worked with have said similar things as well. This has stuck with me since, and will probably stay with me for the rest of my life. I feel like I chose the right field to be in.

Speaking from years of customer service, make sure you perform careful research about the teacher you choose, just like you would about any other service. Ask yourself questions, such as: How can this teacher help me succeed? What kinds of skills and experiences do they have? Does this teacher's personality mesh well with mine?
