About
I'm a graduate of Yale University, where I graduated cum laude and with distinction in Theater Studies. I primarily tutor students in English and creative arts (music, theater, photography, etc.). I enjoy working with students of all ages, from pre-K students learning how to sing to college and graduate school applicants working to craft the perfect essay.
I love getting to help my students challenge themselves, build confidence, and develop their strengths. I'm a storyteller at heart--and nothing is more rewarding than helping a student figure out how to tell their own story.
I'm an experienced writer, editor, and proofreader who takes joy in helping her students express themselves. At Yale, I studied under top English professors and was selected to participate in a number of advanced, admissions-only writing seminars. Through these classes, I honed my writing and editing skills while developing a specific appreciation for the form of the essay--its pithiness, accessibility, and emotional impact.
I am experienced in helping students select an appropriate topic for an assignment, maintain the proper tone, and maximize the impact of their stories (often while under a strict word count). I have come to develop a wide array of strategies in order to suit the needs of students with different levels of experience, and I have experience in many different genres (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, etc.).
In addition to my years of tutoring experience, I work professionally in the theater industry as a director and arts photographer. I bring my experience working on Broadway and off-Broadway musicals, as well as educational theater, to bear whenever I'm working with a student interested in the arts. When it comes to theater, I'm well-equipped to work with students interested in acting, singing, directing, and arts administration. I've also taught music and voice lessons for students ranging from Pre-K to 5th grade, and I delight in unlocking the joy of singing for all my students. I have particular experience teaching solfege and sight-singing, developing a student's vocal repertoire, and exploring storytelling through song. My voice lessons are always personally tailored to the student in question, and I delight in giving singers permission to reach for the stars.
Please reach out if you're interested in tutoring in any of these subjects! I'd love to hear from you.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start out by getting to know my students and assessing their strengths and weaknesses. It's important for me to get a sense of their goals for tutoring, as well as to build a rapport with them.
