About
Hello!
I'm Edgie -- a charismatic college graduate with a passion for liberal arts and extensive communication skills, seeking to aid and educate others through tutoring, test prep and homework assistance.
I have been a tutor for about five years. My work began in 2015, when I volunteered to give after-school grammar lessons and homework assistance to middle school students at my local library. Since then, I have worked as an Art Instructor, a French Tutor, an English Tutor, a Camp Counselor, and a Media Tutor.
I am fluent in both French and English, and have excelled in those areas of study throughout my academic career. I have been selected for the Dean's List six times, due to earning a GPA of 3.7 or higher each semester. I was awarded for receiving a perfect 800/800 French SAT score. Additionally, the writing, public speaking and editing experiences I gained while pursuing my Bachelor's in Liberal Arts have helped me excel in previous Language/ Grammar tutoring positions.
I have published two books (one poetry book and one fiction book), and have also written opinion articles that were published in newspapers.
I have always been grateful to the teachers and mentors that have shaped my life, both within and outside of the classroom. At a very early age, I realized how much of a positive impact educators can have on their students. Being a tutor allows me to not only give practical help to students, but to also motivate and encourage them. I enjoy coming up with new, creative ways to make learning fun, interactive and uplifting.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with new students, I typically draft a list of key topics of study in the subject matter. Through a quick assessment, I evaluate the students' proficiency levels in those topics and begin sessions by focusing on the topics students are having the most difficulty with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked as a Media Tutor, a French Tutor, a French Camp Counselor, a Literary Magazine Editor, and an After-school Tutor.
