Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, before stating I usually ask a few questions to get to know the student and what they need help with. Then I proceed to ask the student to show me what they are currently working on so we can go over their work. This also allows me to accurately assist the student in the best way possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a tutor for a year specializing in math and English. I have multiple students, working with ages as early as 5 years old. I also have experience with middle school, high school, and even college students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing is $20 an hour, but I am willing to work out pricing with clients depending on what fits the client's need.
How did you get started teaching?
I first started teaching in 8th grade. I was above average in math and would help the students around the classroom and kids with homework after school. I didn't start professionally tutoring until last year. I realized that I had such a love and passion for tutoring and teaching. I wanted to make a career out of this passion.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of many different age ranges. From 5 years old pre-school students to 20-year-old college students. I have experience working with many different grade levels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
In my opinion, when looking for a tutor you should look for someone who has the patients and the passion to teach a subject to a student. When teaching a new subject to a student you have to allow the student to learn the subject and work with them step by step so they can retain the information.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
There are a few questions a student should think about before seeking tutors' help. Questions like, " What do I need help with?" "What am I not understanding?" "What is the topic that I learning?".
