About
Unlike other services, I specialize in working with clients whose first language is not English. Often, there are people who are perfectly educated and well-versed in American culture, but who have specific grammatical and syntactical errors unique to their language learning. This is where I step in and help to correct these specific areas.
We'll work with Google Docs so that the client can see the progress and corrections first-hand, as well as messaging and phone conversations to narrow down the issues we need to address.
I love tutoring because I love English and writing. I enjoy solving the puzzle of what my client needs and why, and engaging with my client on a day-to-day basis. Working on a document is like working on a particularly fascinating word game for me. It exercises my brain in a specific way that I find invigorating!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I get to know them a little bit by talking over the phone about what they need and what they're looking for.
Then I'll ask them to send me a sample of their writing so I can understand what I'm working with in terms of grammar and syntax.
From there, we'll have a constant dialogue over text or Messenger about the piece they want me to work on.
If the client needs tutoring help, I often use song lyrics to help with grammar, and we will probably also use Skype to discuss lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Literature and Creative Writing, and I have been working freelance as an editor with a political writer whose first language is Arabic.
