About
My approach to tutoring students is very individualized. Tutoring and teaching, in general, is not a one size fits all process. Before diving into the actual subject matter that the student needs help with I get to know them as a person first. I find that this helps to build trust and communication between me and the student I am tutoring. I work carefully with each student to come up with methods of instruction and review that works best with how they learn, and I constantly check in during our tutoring session to make sure that the student understands what we cover so far. Above all else, I make sure that the student feels that their needs, both academic and personal, are being heard.
I really enjoy the moment when it all clicks. Whether that is finally getting over writer's block in a college essay, figuring out how to do a geometric proof, or finally memorizing the different theories of emotion in psychology. That is why I tutor students. I know how crucial my tutors were to the success I achieved throughout high school, and I want to be able to provide that to other students.
