About
As a recent college graduate pursuing a career in academia, I have a passion for engaging others in subjects of my interest. I began my private tutoring business in high school (est. 2016), in parallel to other instructor positions that I have held through the years. My teaching style is built around my empathy for a student's learning process, whereby I take time to listen and dissect how the student conceptualizes a problem and formulate a solution that makes sense to them. Beyond my experience tutoring academic subjects, I have over 5 years of experience designing and instructing outdoor leadership programs, leading multiple expeditions myself.
I graduated this past May with two bachelor's degrees in applied mathematics and biology from Columbia University and Hamilton College, respectively. My GPA was in the top 5% of my graduating class at Columbia and top 10% of my class at Hamilton. Currently, I work as a software engineer and am applying for PhD programs in mathematical biology this fall. I have led multiple published research studies, and my work has been featured in international news outlets. Outside of work and school, I am a prolific reader, an avid endurance athlete, and a mediocre (but enthusiastic) chef.
I am comfortable tutoring any level of math, physics, biology, environmental science, and computer science. In addition, I have authored published writing and am comfortable editing college essays and any form of science communication. My goal is to help you identify and excel in areas of your interest by sharing my passion for the subject and skillfully scaling learning curves with you.
