I have 25 years of journalism, ESL teaching at grade school, college, and corporate level and awards for my journalism and corporate writing plus I've taught in French and Spanish--all grade levels. and ESL in the U.S. --all grade levels--plus Hong Kong, Seoul, Vietnam, and Eastern Europe.
I spent 20 years as Manager of Communications writing for engineers and architects. I designed an entire communications division within my firm.
I conduct workshops in writing on STEM topics for schools.
I conduct workshops in literature appreciation and literacy for all grades and college.
I have three Masters: Financial, Technical, and Medical Journalism/ESL/Special Education--Grades K to 12 + adult.
I teach Autistic children and published a book for them: Jamie is Autistic, which is now in Chinese and Spanish.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I assess their knowledge in and progress to date in the subject in which I'm tutoring them and then focus on the areas that need improvement by setting up work to help them. I bring in worksheets and patiently guide them by giving examples. Then, they do practice sheets for me.
Then, they bring in content questions from school and previous tests and we go over problem areas. From time to time with my ESL students, I may ask them to repeat passages verbally and record them to hear how their accent has been reduced to speak clearly and concisely. Accents are charming but to be effective in class and at work, they need to be refined.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Three Masters: Journalism, ESL, and Special Education plus 25 years of writing at all educational, journalism, and corporate levels. I've won awards for my newspaper and corporate pieces and tutoring as well.
