About
I am an English tutor who has had a lifelong passion for the English language. I am also a creative thinker who prides himself on thinking outside the box, and I try to encourage my students to do the same. With more than five years of tutoring experience, I am well qualified to help students with a variety of needs, including basic writing, English grammar, essay writing, creative writing, editing, speaking, and much more.
It's difficult to answer this in a way that doesn't cliché, but the part that I enjoy the most is watching my students make progress. That's what feels the most meaningful to me.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When first meeting a new student, I generally like to take some time to assess their needs. I will speak to them about their goals and the hurdles they feel they are facing. While doing so, I not only get a sense of the student as a person but also analyze their English abilities throughout the initial conversation.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing system is on a sliding scale, based upon each student's needs and financial situation.
How did you get started teaching?
I began as a volunteer at an ESL company that worked primarily with Korean students. After a short period of time, I was hired as a full time tutor, assisting mainly college-aged students with speaking, writing, and subject-specific needs.
What types of students have you worked with?
Most of my students have been ESL students, and they have been primarily from East Asia or Latin America.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my students that I have been working with for quite some time asked for my help with a Columbia admissions essay. She worked tirelessly to ensure that her essay was the best it could possibly be, and I assisted her in editing and restructuring the essay. She was accepted, and she is now majoring in Economics at Columbia.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The questions a student should think through before talking to a teacher are: "What is my end goal?", "How fast would I like to achieve my end goal?", and "Is my timeline realistic?". I often find that new students want to sound and write like native speakers overnight. As much as I wish it could be that easy, it often takes quite a bit of time to achieve that level of fluency. So, I like to assess a student's current skills and lay out a realistic timeline to reach the goals they want to achieve.
