Good Times Tutoring

About this tutor

I can provide services from Theaterical Arts to Basic Reading comprehension to AP Psychology to College Essay preparation. Having a lot of variety and knowledge under my belt will help the students achieve! By setting small goals, rather than overloading and overwhelming the student, I have discovered it is actually easier over time for the student to be successful in that subject matter.

I have been tutoring for a few years now and have an incredible passion for what I do. Through tutoring, my students have actually helped me as much as I have helped them. I have maintained a 3.7 GPA, on my college's Dean's List and within the Honor's College, all while being able to help others get to those achievements. By being able to maintain these goals for myself, it has been my goal to help my students get there - whether they need help at an elementary school level or a college level. I can't wait to work with your students!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Usually I like to set small goals with my students. This gives the student, no matter what age, a way to be less overwhelmed and front loaded by all the work ahead of them. It's very easy to get anxiety when it comes to any type of work, so if there is any way I can help minimize that and show them that school work can be fun while still achieving high goals, then the work can begin.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a Junior in college, getting a Bachelor's degree in Theatre & New Media with two minors in Drama Therapy and Gender & Sexuality Studies. With that, I have maintained a 3.7 GPA, stayed on the Dean's List and within the Honor's College. Since there is such a variety within my majors and minors, I have experienced a wave of knowledge through many different types of classes and hands on experiences. I also tutored all throughout high school with K-8 students on subjects such as English, Theatre, Religion and Media.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I tend to go by age range and subject matter. For elementary grade levels, I usually start at $30 / hour, as sometimes it is hard for the student to want to remain focused on the task ahead, especially with a new fun tutor, and requires a bit more patience on both of our parts. For middle school and high school, around $40 is my happy medium. Anything involving Honor's, AP, or college prep will be around $50.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

No question is a bad question - honestly. I love my students being able to approach me about their anxieties or needs involving school or work. School should not be a source for anxiety for any kid and if there is a certain need they have in terms of comprehension, understanding, or even just time management, I would love to help in any way possible.
