Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want to know your goals so I can help you get to where you want to be.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have tutored high school students in the past in many subjects.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30/hour
How did you get started teaching?
I was always good at breaking down complicated subjects and making them easier to understand for my peers and in high school I started tutoring students younger than me.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students in high school and middle school and helped with math, science, and English.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who you don't find intimidating. I could never ask questions when I was afraid of seeming dumb. Learning happens when your only focus is to do so. Distractions like image and fear will take away from the experience.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what you want to gain from a tutor and tell them so you are on the same page. Tell them about what you hope to achieve.
