I love what I do and my clients do too. Please see year of positive reviews on Facebook/tutorwithtodd.

I specialize in one-on-one private tutoring which allows me to customize my approach to each student's specific needs. My areas of expertise are ACT/SAT Writing & Language and Reading prep as well as college application essays. I have a ten-year track record of helping students raise their standardized test scores and assisting in the crafting of unique and compelling essays. More importantly, I get to know my students and build a rapport with them which allows them to relax and even have fun while learning.

Frequently asked questions

Each student is different. I typically recommend a minimum of 8 weeks to prepare for the ACT or SAT. If find that with college essays, we may need anywhere from 3 to 6 sessions.

Bachelor of Science in Communication

Former teacher and tutor for The Princeton Review

Writer for NBC news and MSNBC

15 years coaching hockey and baseball

Two teenagers of my own!

I charge $110 per hour.

Sessions often run long, but I do not charge for the extra time.

I have always loved teaching. I am didactic by nature and in my former career in radio and television, I often found myself in a teaching/training role and loved it.

I was a teacher and tutor for the Princeton Review many years ago and between that stint and my years coaching youth hockey and baseball, I found a love of teaching.

All types.

Recently, my son committed to the University of Vermont. After many years of working with other people's students, it was a long and difficult process helping my own achieve his goals with regard to the college application process. Still, we were able to work together in conjunction with his teachers and advisors to squeeze the best possible scores and essays out of him and it worked beyond my wildest dreams. On the same day, a student of mine informed me she had earned a 740 on her Eglish/Reading SAT. Very gratifying.

Take your time. Do your homework. Learn about the tutor before you decide. I never charge for the first session. I want the student and the parent(s) to be free to ask questions, express concerns, discuss costs and expectations and do so without pressure or the feeling of obligation. So my advice is to call me. Let's sit down and talk about it before you decide. If you go with me, we will rock. If not, no worries. It's really that simple.
