How did you get started teaching?
I have always wanted to be a teacher. I decided to teach math because it was where I excel while most students had issues with it.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many types of students! I have worked with students with disabilities, English Language Learners, Gifted and Talented students, students approaching standards, exceeding standards and anywhere in between. I have tutored students from Pre-k to college.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who you are comfortable with. Learning may not always be fun but it must be supportive.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students (or parents) must think of what the student's needs are - are they trying to build foundational concepts, trying to "pass" an exam, review lessons, review misconceptions, HW help, etc.?
