I hired Ms. Calderon for my daughter who was struggling in middle school math. Ms. Calderon got my daughter’s grades up throughout the year. She made it very easy to understand. She brought math stuff to help her learn. Notes and guided practice was given. Always on time and flexible with schedules.

I really liked how Ms.Calderon helped me so much with math. She explained everything to me several times until I really understood everything. She used a lot of different methods to see whatever worked. She made math really easy for me. And overall I had a great experience having her as my math teacher.

Frequently asked questions

Assessing their background knowledge in numerical analysis first.  Figuring out what type of learner they are.  Addressing students needs first and inform the student how we will

work together to grow and develop in math

I am a math teacher who has also been promoted to coaching and supervisor positions for both math and science curriculums

During my junior year at Montclair State, my friends began their first phase of student teaching.  Hearing the joy and creative insight they had towards teaching began to linger in my thought process of what major I should study.  From this point on, I began to take classes in the education program. Viola! I found my niche. I graduated and became a middle school teacher.  The program enabled me to develop my innate characteristics into a path that lead me to love and understand what it is to be a teacher. In doing so, teaching middle school for the past 8 years has truly made me a good citizen of this country.  Subsequently, teaching has become a major characteristic of mine in which all of my other characteristics embody who I am as a teacher. Many people will ask me “who are you? What do you like?” I find myself saying I am a teacher. I am a teacher that loves children, who cares for the youth and wants to make the future filled with knowledgeable and motivation citizens.

I have always worked in a multicultural setting and with all levels of math in my classroom.  From an "urban" setting to a "suburdan" setting, my classroom always functioned the same way.....increase student achievement in mathematics.

My personal events continues to influence my teaching and the interpersonal style I use in my field year after year.  Teaching is truly one of the most challenging, yet most rewarding professions out there. It allows me to accept change, continue to challenge others, and most importantly, inspire.  With my background, teaching allows me to grow and develop into someone new everyday. My interpersonal style continues to enable quality relationships with effective communication because of my aggressive background and assertiveness.

Best advice I could ever give a student looking to hire a teacher is to look at the way the teacher presents the material. In other words, everyone learns differently.  Therefore it is the educator's job to adjust the material to fit the learning needs of that student.
