About

I am a reading and writing specialist. I have a Masters Degree and a Doctorate in Education. My entire career has involved helping students in the areas of reading and writing (all grade-levels). I successfully teach students with dyslexia to read fluently with my own program developed from Orton Gillingham methodology. My guided writing lessons (from ABC to PhD) are easy to follow and you will achieve your writing goals very quickly.

Dissertations: I can shed light on the complicated process of writing a dissertation, from the proposal to the completion. Avoid the pitfalls that set students back and add years to completion! Step by step, I can unravel the confusion and lead you to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Reading and writing are important forms of communications. Problems in these areas limit students' ability to achieve their goals and too often, affect self-esteem and confidence. When I help students overcome struggles in reading and writing, I derive joy from knowing I have opened many other doors of opportunity.

Dissertations: After completing my doctoral degree, I was able to step back and see the dissertation process from a much clearer perspective. However, during the process, I often felt lost and isolated. Each step forward left me bemoaning miscomprehensions that had made my journey more complicated. If I had understood more clearly from the start, I could have avoided many problems that held up the process. The experience motivated me to help others in similar situations and I began tutoring doctoral students.

I find that she is knowledgeable and wished I began with her a long time ago. The last meeting we had she knew exactly what I needed to say and what I needed to do my research on. I am so thankful she took the time to help me and I now feel so much better. She is a true woman of her word.

Frequently asked questions

I successfully teach students with dyslexia to read fluently with my own program developed from Orton Gillingham methodology.  My guided writing lessons (from elementary grades through high school) are easy to follow and you will achieve your writing goals very quickly.

College and Graduate work:

I proofread for errors in spelling, grammar, syntax, punctuation, and APA formatting. Additionally, I will review and edit:

  • overall structure and balance;

  • adherence to your problem statement / research questions / design;

  • appropriate content under appropriate headings

  • the coherence of the chapters

  • use of active / passive voice, and of past / present tense

  • clarity of explanation

  • length of sentences, and economy of word use

Master of Science Degree from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA

Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership with a focus on Curriculum Design from the University of Phoenix.

My standard tutoring rate is $27 - $37 per hour.

Proofreading and editing (College and beyond): $5 per page.

I prefer that students send their work as they complete each section or chapter to avoid bigger problems.  Therefore, I do not charge more for fewer words or pages. A set rate of $5 per page is affordable and allows students to be proactive as they write, avoiding significant changes later.

Examples: 30 pages = $150; 200 pages = $1000; 400 pages = $2000.

Proofreading alone (spelling, grammar, syntax, punctuation, and APA formatting): $2 per page

Example: 100 pages = $200; 400 pages = $800

Important note: If I am hired for proofreading (alone) and I see major issues that require editing, I may not accept the job. I do not want to tarnish my reputation if the document is rejected and the student associates the rejection with my editing work.  I will require the student to sign a disclosure form (confidential form between me and the student), disclosing the editing problems and stating that the student accepts full responsibility.  Then, I will proceed with proofreading alone.
