About
I am a passionate, enthusiastic, and empathetic tutor with experience working with students from all backgrounds. As a former high school teacher, I am intimately familiar with the challenges presented by math and science classes, and I am determined to help others overcome these challenges. My tutoring style is instructive but entertaining, as my students will testify.
I love nothing more than seeing my students succeed, both in and out of school. My goal is to aid my students in achieving their educational and personal potential. And, of course, I wouldn't be a STEM tutor without a deep (and nerdy) love of mathematics.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Tutoring is, more than anything, about the relationship between the tutor and the student. Therefore, I always begin with a new student by learning about their interests, experiences, challenges, and goals. The more I know, the better equipped I am to tailor my instruction to the individual needs of each student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've studied, tutored, and taught mathematics (and science) for nearly ten years. I graduated with honors from New York University, with a 4.0 in mathematics, and afterward tutored SAT prep with private clients and classes. Additionally, I worked as a mathematics and physics teacher at the prestigious Fusion Academy for several years, where I continued to receive training as an educator and mentor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For in-person tutoring, I charge $50/hr for "standard" classes and $60/hr for AP or college-level classes. For remote, or virtual tutoring, I charge $40/hr for "standard" classes and $50/hr for AP or college-level classes. However, I fully understand that the needs, both educational and financial, of every student are different, and I am happy to discuss alternate rates if you feel they are warranted.
How did you get started teaching?
I've enjoyed helping others learn since I was a teenager, but I never thought of myself as a teacher until college. As a theater student, I learned the importance of clear speech and mindful listening, which I discovered were the key characteristics of excellent teaching. My experiences as a performer, together with my passion for all things math and science, prepared me for an easy transition into the world of education and tutoring.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
First and foremost, know your own goals. What are you hoping to accomplish through tutoring? Do you want help completing homework? Prepping for a test? Achieving an A+? Or a combination of all three? It is helpful to define your goals as specifically as possible. And second, think about how a tutor can help you achieve that goal. Do you want a tutor who works through numerous examples with you or one who helps correct your work after the fact? Do you prefer visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learning? The more you know about your own needs, the more empowered you are.
