I write for two blogs so I have a lot of experience writing constantly and editing thoroughly. I am a freshman in college so when it comes to writing college essays, high school papers, etc., I can really help because I was so recently writing them myself. I read quickly so if my student needs help with a book they are reading in class, I can gain access to it quickly and read up to the part they are at if I hadn't read the book yet, and be able to help guide their thinking in the right direction while also encouraging their own creative critical thoughts and ideas. I have worked with children, specifically children with disabilities. This has allowed me to grow my patience when working with children and to help support their growth by encouraging them and never letting them feel like they can't do what they are putting their minds to. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually like to get to know them first so I can understand how they learn, the best tactics to use, and what they are struggling in and why. I try to make sure that they have an open mind about trying new approaches to the subjects they are struggling in and that they feel comfortable with me as their tutor.
