I have taught Fourth grade at St. Peter Academy in River Edge for 15 years. I was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2008. I am NJ certified to teach all subjects in preschool through eighth grade. Prior to my position at St. Peter’s, I worked at Daniel Academy in River Edge, where I taught enrichment classes in math and language arts for grades 2-6. I also taught Summer School Basic Math at Queen of Peace in North Arlington for high school students. Finally, I worked at Sylvan Learning Centers in Emerson and Fairlawn for four years. There I tutored elementary, middle school and high school kids in math, reading and language arts. I have been tutoring math and language arts for grades k-8 for twenty years.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first list to assess where they are at, and where they should be. Next I’d like for the student and I to set goals together. I like to to build upon each tutoring session with a new skill, but also repeat previous skills until mastered.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my Bachelors Degree one Elementary and Middle School Education fro.m Montclair University. I am. NJ certified teacher for grades Pre-k through 8th grade in all subjects.

Typically I charge $40 per hour
How did you get started teaching?
As I child I always babysat for the neighborhood kids, and was a camp counselor every summer.
What types of students have you worked with?
I’ve worked with all levels of kids. Kids that were on level, below, and above level.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Last week I was in CVS and I ran into a past FourthGrade student of mine, who I haven’t seen in about ten years. We both hugged and cried!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire a teacher feels right for you. The student- teacher dynamic is extremely important for the student’s success. Not all teachers and students mesh. What Teacher works for one student, may not work for another.

Do I think this teacher will work well for me?
Do I think I can work to my potential for this teacher.
