Mathnasium Of Fort Lee
About
Hello. We are Ruby Yao and Benedict Zoe, Owners/Proprietors of Mathnasium of Fort Lee, your neighborhood math-only learning center. We help kids in grades K-12 understand math by teaching the way that makes sense to them.
When math makes sense, kids leap way ahead – whether they started out far behind or already ahead in math. Our formula for teaching kids math, the Mathnasium MethodTMhas transformed the way kids learn math for over a decade across 700+ centers in the US and Canada.
We are teachers and manage a team of exceptional instructors that specialize only in teaching math. We enjoy the individualized teaching attention that we can bring to each student we teach. It is a learning experience that cannot be replicated in a classroom. Collectively, we have over 100 years of teaching experience to share with our students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start with a verbal assessment then a written assessment that informs us of the student's skills. That assessment is transformed into a custom learning plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Ruby is a certified teacher with lower, middle, high school, and university teaching experience. Benedict is a retired software engineer with extensive analytical experience in research (Bell Laboratories), and Wall Street. We both hold masters degrees.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is a monthly membership dependent on age group and days of monthly attendance.
How did you get started teaching?
Teaching is in our background and vocation. Ruby is a certified teacher, and Benedict has always been a manager/team lead/mentor.
What types of students have you worked with?
We've worked with students from age 4 through 50. Mostly kindergarten through highschool.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a tutor in your area of expertise?
Thoroughly understand your needs, then ask lots of questions. Ask if your tutor understands your gaps and has a learning plan to teach and fill in those gaps? Is the learning plan progressive and designed for understanding? How does your tutor measure your learning progress? How many years of experience does your tutor have? Does the tutoring center have an extensive staff selection? Is the tutor always available to answer your questions?
What questions should students think through before talking to tutors about their needs?
