As a student and Kluge Scholar on the Dean's List at Columbia University, I have the privilege to be gaining a world class education. I am a Financial Economics major, and have become highly skilled in a number of subject areas, namely Mathematics, Economics and English Language/English Literature. I would love to transfer these skills to younger students in the fun, productive and innovative environment that I will provide for them.
I stand out as a tutor because I have a passion for sharing my knowledge with others. I am a conscientious, enthusiastic and focused learner and believe that I am effective in transferring these traits to my students.
I also have a uniquely thorough method of tuition which focuses on giving the students a deep understanding of the syllabus before testing students on their knowledge with regular quizzes and practice papers. My most recent tuition experience spanned 4 and a half years as an assistant instructor in karate for over 100 students, where I taught children aged 5-17 the traditional wado-ryu syllabus, organised games and activities and also provide pastoral support.
I would love an opportunity to continue teaching young students and inspire them to reach their true potential.

I enjoy seeing the development of my students over the course of the tuition process. There is no more satisfying feeling for me than seeing them achieve highly in their tests, gaining confidence and reassurance along the way. I also enjoy the process of the student improving their understanding, progressing from a state of confusion to one of realisation.
Kayo worked closely with me in preparing for my Ssat. Even though it was short notice, he explained every topic throughly and broke down every step and gave me many new strategies that helped have a better understanding of the work at hand. After going through a lesson he would pick out the main ideas on what we focused on to recap what we learned and to make sure that I had it down pack. With his help I felt more than prepared and confident that I would do well and I highly recommend him for not only standardized test but tutoring in math and English!
Take the student through an in-depth review of the course syllabus - an initial focus on theory
Practice and consolidate topics learned through regular quizzes and practice papers
Allot time at the end of each tuition session for questions and additional exercises if the student feels comfortable with the topics
Assistant Instructor in Karate - for four years I trained hundreds of students between the ages of 5 and 17 for up to 4 hours per week. Many of these students have gone on to attain their black belts in recent years.
My first teaching experience was at the Kaigaishii Karate Association, and I intend to carry on my career as a New York - based tutor.
