About this tutor

I am a teacher, essayist, poet, copy-editor and musician living in Manhattan. I graduated college as a Presidential Scholar and Dean’s List Honor’s student, and completed three years of undergraduate research in pedagogy and education. I also worked as a nanny for three elementary school children and tutored them in reading and writing. I have written for various magazines and non-profits, am the assistant managing editor for Guesthouse Literary Press, and have taught ESL since moving to New York. In addition to teaching English I also have experience teaching beginning-intermediate guitar to children.

I teach as a means of serving individuals and communities. Whether through college preparedness, language proficiency, or creative development, I am passionate about equity in education. For this reason, and to the best of my ability, I work to meet students where they are financially with my rates.

I form meaningful relationships with students and enjoy teaching them in a way that is suited to their unique learning styles.

She has been wonderful with my 12 year old son. My son does not like writing and tends to neglect it in school. Sarabeth has sparked his interest and has used creative ways to inspire him to write. She has been a delight to have in my home.

Sarabeth is a friendly, adorable and even professional tutor. I just love studying with her:)

Sarabeth is a wise, kind, smart, and deeply compassionate tutor. She is quick to gauge what students need in order to help them succeed and her work ethic is diligent and attentive. I have worked alongside her for a year now and I am continually impressed with her heart for others and her dedication to education and community enrichment.

I enjoy helping children and adults become more confident in their ELA abilities. I have worked at a community center as an ELA tutor and ESL teacher for the past two years. We interact with students of all ELA/ESL levels and it is a joy and interesting challenge to discover what teaching style and focus works best for them.
