What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I take time to get to know the student, understand their strong points , and what they need help with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors Degree from Rutgers University. I also have worked as a local tutor for underprivileged students for the past 2 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I usually take a consultation/trial session to get to understand the students specific needs. Once I have evaluated the level of tutoring needed I advise the parent/Guardian of the prices . All prices range from $50-$100 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I am the eldest of 5, so naturally I had to oversee my younger siblings work. As I got older I realized how much I loved to tutor!
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all type of students. From shy to super expressive. I have worked with children with defiant disorders, and children who just take a little longer to grasp the ideas
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently I worked with an 11 year old boy, who die to remote learning was receiving a 17% in his math class. His mother was overwhelmed and hired me to help him make up his missed work. Upon working with the student I realized, the student wasn't failing because he didn't care, but he truly was not grasping the virtual learning teachings.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find the right match for your type of student. Sometimes more certifications, and higher levels education is not what the student need. Sometime the student needs time, attention and to naturally click with the person teaching them .
