About
I have a genuine passion for English as a subject and want to help others find a love for it as well. I love English and spent five years in college studying and learning everything I could because I genuinely enjoy it. I received my BA in English and I also have a creative writing certification in addition to my degree. I have also recently received my TESOL certification. I have been helping others and tutoring for around three years. Sometimes all it can take is a little help and understanding and you'll be on your way!
I love working through text and materials with my students. Finding commonalities between the reader and text is something fun and special. Making connections is such an awesome experience that should be celebrated.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing I like to do is get to know a little bit about my student. What they like, dislike, and some of their hobbies. I like to build a connection with my student in order for them to feel more comfortable with me. Then, I try and gauge what level they are at with the materials they need assistance with. I ask questions about where they think they are the most confident and where they think they need the most help. Then, we build off of that!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a four year bachelor's degree in English, and I also have an added writing certification specialized in creative writing. I received both of these from Arizona State University. This past year I also got my TESOL certification (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have tutored my friends, classmates, and family members in english studies for over three years. I also was an editor-in-chief for the ASU literary magazine, Canyon Voices, for the 17th issue, and I volunteered with kids (grade 6-8) in a drama club.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20 per session
How did you get started teaching?
I have always wanted to teach, but I enjoy tutoring one-on-one more than traditional teaching. I think it makes the experience more personal and customizable. I have been tutoring for over 3 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students age ranged from 5-18 and I have also helped adult students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice would be to know what you are looking for and ASK QUESTIONS! One tutor may be different than the other in a specific subject.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Knowing what you need and what you struggle with are two big things to let your teacher/tutor know about, that way they can help you to the best of their ability. Also, do not be afraid to ask questions! That is how you learn. :)
