I have been a Spanish teacher and an ESL teacher for over 18 years. I have taught ESL and Spanish in all levels: Beginners, Intermediate and advance. I have taught ESL and Spanish to children, teenagers and adults. Currently, I am teaching Spanish and ESL at a Public School district. I am from Quito, Ecuador. I came to New Jersey to work at West Orange Public Schools in 2001. I am a World Language teacher and an ESL teacher too. I have worked in elementary schools, colleges, and as a private tutor for a tutoring company. Currently, I teach Spanish in two elementary schools. I also teach ESL to parents from the district in the evenings. I love teaching languages and I love to innovate and create lessons to engage and motivate my students in the learning of Spanish. I believe that education is a commitment among teachers, parents, and students that when combined, leads to high academic success. I look forward to helping students reach their goals and achieve the best that they can! Below is a brief summary of my education.

Mercedes tutored me for my college level Spanish class. She is very skilled in explaining and making sure that you understand the topics before moving on. She was very enthusiastic and patient which really helped me fully engage in her lessons. Highly recommend her!
