About
Mathnasium of Cherry Hill has been at the same location since 2009. We teach math in a way your child understands. Each child has a customized lesson plan. Individual instruction in a group setting. We are math experts and understand the way every school in our area is teaching it.
The Mathnasium Method is an easier way of thinking about Math and develops Critical Thinking. We teach for understanding, not just "See this, Do that." If a student doesn't understand one way of solving a math exercise, we discuss other approaches and help him/her understand the material.
Seeing the "Light Bulb" go on when a student finally understands a concept he /she has been struggling with.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1. Every student is assessed at her/his skill level in math. Once a student has taken a paid assessment, there is no charge for any future assessment.
2. A learning plan is developed from the assessment.
3. A binder is printed from the learning plan.
4. The new student comes in for 1 hour sessions as often as parents want during the month.
5. When the Learning Plan is completed, the student takes a post assessment and the assessments are compared in a bar chart format to show where improvement happened.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Every instructor must take and pass (85% or better) a Mathnasium Math test. The instructor is then interviewed for compatability to work with our students who range in age from 6 years old to Adult. Once an instructor is hired, he/she must complete 15 hours of training in how to teach the Mathnasium Method.
Our instructors include: Math teachers, Math education Majors in college, Engineers, and Accountants.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is a monthly Membership. There are no Long Term contracts. Because our students may visit as often as they like, hourly rates are difficult to determine, but cost range is $35/hour to $45/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I was employed as an Engineer and then retired. I wanted to give back to the community. Math is my passion. So, Mathnasium is a perfect fit.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with all types. Most of our students need help to catch up in school. Some are very advanced in Math and need a challenge. Since each student is assessed at her/his ability, we can work with just about anybody. Many of our students have varying learning disabilities. We discuss with each parent what program will best suit their child's needs.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Pi Day. Every year we have our students voluntarily memorize as many digits of PI as they are abe. The students who recall the most digits are given the opportunity to pie in the face an instructor of their choice.
We also have Pies for student consumption and have various activities to discover Pi.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a tutor in your area of expertise?
Do your research to find the environment and instructor that best compliment your learning style.
What questions should students think through before talking to tutors about their needs?
How is instruction given? What should I expect from each session? How will you meet my learning goals? How will I know I am making progress?
