About
I have been an ESL Teacher for more than 18 years. My grammar is advanced and I have helped countless students with their English writing, reading, and speaking skills. My students have ranged from 4 years of age to 60 years of age. I give dynamic classes because I strongly believe you can learn something better if you’re having fun doing it! I’ve been told by my students that my classes are funny and very informative. Additionally, I have a Master’s Degree and a TEFL certificate. I have taught inside traditional classrooms, have provided in-home tutoring, and have also given online classes.
Teaching is such a rewarding job. I feel so wonderful knowing I have helped a student. When a light goes on in their head, I know I have made a difference. I love that feeling!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start assessing the student’s level of English competency by asking some basic questions first. If the student handles them with ease, I make the next questions more difficult to further judge their skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching ESL for more than 18 years, in classrooms, at home with tutoring, and online. I have a 120-hour TEFL certificate and a Master’s degree.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For private one-on-one tutoring sessions, I normally charge $30-$40 per hour, depending on the student's needs. For small-group tutoring (of 3-4 students), I charge $15 per hour per student.
How did you get started teaching?
It was a weekend job as I was pursuing my Master’s degree. I fell in love with the dynamics of an English-learning environment and enjoyed the cultural exchange I had with my students. The rewarding experiences I had also encouraged me to continue teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught all levels of English. The last ESL institute I was working in, there were eight levels of English competency and I taught all eight levels, as I was employed there for more than 18 years. My students’ strengths and weaknesses have varied tremendously, so I am comfortable with all types of students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Just this summer, as I was finishing up a private tutoring session, the student said, “ You are such a great teacher. Your class is worth much more than I’m paying.” That was a huge compliment and she went on to refer two acquaintances to take classes with me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
”Look for passion in your teacher. If a teacher teaches with passion, it means he or she loves what she does. Therefore, you can only benefit from that love of teaching. You’ll be a much better student because of it.”
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
- Why is learning this subject important to me? What are my goals in regards to this skill?
- How dedicated will I be as a student? Am I willing to work hard to be where I want to be?
