Frequently asked questions

First meeting is a chance for the parent and student to tell me what they expect. They also let me know what areas of math are particularly difficult.

Next show me your text book and recent homework.

Then tell me about when and where you do your math homework.

Lastly decide if you would like to be tutored one or two times a week and when.

I have taught in RI, MA, and NH middle schools.  Classes have included grades 5 through 8.  My degree is in math education and my masters degree is in Environmental Education.  I have an additional 44 credits in middle school math education.  I have 30 years of classsroom teaching experience.

My fees are as follows:

55 minutes.  $25

I watched someone else teach and was inspired to pursue a career in teaching.

I have worked with students from grade 4 through adult education. Some need confidence building and others need basic skills. Some have prepared for advancement promotions, others are working to grade level.

Recently I have worked with helping a class at the National Guard get prepared for the military ASFAB.

Teaching a student who was expelled from 8 Th grade and needed individual instruction. School was not a good fit for him.

Be sure you meet first and feel like you will get along.

Can I present my needs without accusing anyone or blaming anyone?

Am I willing to dedicate time to the tutor and complete the work?
