What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First meeting is a chance for the parent and student to tell me what they expect. They also let me know what areas of math are particularly difficult.
Next show me your text book and recent homework.
Then tell me about when and where you do your math homework.
Lastly decide if you would like to be tutored one or two times a week and when.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught in RI, MA, and NH middle schools. Classes have included grades 5 through 8. My degree is in math education and my masters degree is in Environmental Education. I have an additional 44 credits in middle school math education. I have 30 years of classsroom teaching experience.

How did you get started teaching?
I watched someone else teach and was inspired to pursue a career in teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from grade 4 through adult education. Some need confidence building and others need basic skills. Some have prepared for advancement promotions, others are working to grade level.
Recently I have worked with helping a class at the National Guard get prepared for the military ASFAB.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Teaching a student who was expelled from 8 Th grade and needed individual instruction. School was not a good fit for him.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be sure you meet first and feel like you will get along.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Can I present my needs without accusing anyone or blaming anyone?
Am I willing to dedicate time to the tutor and complete the work?
