Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in Biology from UT Dallas. I'm pursuing a graduate degree in Health Informatics. I've clocked over 15,000 hours tutoring and worked with hundreds of students over the past nearly 15 years. This includes mainly 1-on-1 tutoring and also some small group and classroom tutoring.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing varies and depends on subject and how often the tutoring sessions are held.
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring when I was attending University of Texas at Dallas and did work-study with the high school AVID program (Advancement Via Individual Determination) for 4 years. I have been tutoring 1-on-1 and groups since then.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have mostly worked with middle school, high school, and college students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When my daughter Sophia was born on Mother's Day 2019!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The tutor/teacher should have thorough subject knowledge, be kind and flexible, and have good availability. Tutors and teachers should genuinely like the subjects they teach as well.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should get an idea of how often they want or need to study for the class. They can ask the tutor for additional practice questions.
Sometimes, due to time constraints, only certain questions or problems can be reviewed during the session. So make sure to star or highlight the questions that really need to be reviewed as you work through homework and quiz and exam reviews.
