About
Anika is a former Lead ELA Teacher from New York. She has several years of teaching experience preparing kids to excelle on the state test, as well as exceeding their grade level reading goals. Anika has been recognized for creating a warm and structured learning envirnoment which has yielded in over three hunderd of her students achieving 15% growth each. Anika is currently teaching at a local charter school in the Philadelphia area were she specializes in Special Education, and individualized learning.
Prior to stepping into the classroom Anika was stepping up in the gym. She was a DII college track athlete turned professional Personal Trainer at Bally Total Fitness. Praised by her clients for her supportive spirit that never allowed them to quit on themselves, she guided them to reaching their personal health goals.
I love seeing my students grow their sense of confidence in themselves and their love of learning. I work hard to see their smile and light in their eyes when they are excited they have learned something new.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know your personality and interest, then get to know your glows and grows as a learner. Finally I tailor my lesson plans to meet your needs based on your glows and grows as well as your personality. I always want to keep your interested and engaged in the lesson.

I began teaching shortly after graduation college at a charter school in New York.

It always brings joy and warmth to my heart to see my students be promoted to the following grade at the end of the school year.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Go with a teacher that you feel you can be comfortable around. Someone who will be their authentic self and will be accepting of your authentic self.
Ask them about their previous experience that you are interesting getting help with. Don't be scared to be clear about your needs and wants, as well as things you dont need or want.
