As a National Board Certified Teacher with 16 years of experience, I'm passionate about making a difference in math education. I analyze student thinking to find gaps in students' knowledge. When I'm able to fill in the missing pieces, I get excited to see the thrill and relief students get when it finally makes sense.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to speak casually with the student about their likes and dislikes including classes in school. This helps me to understand what type of learner they are as well as build a relationship with the student. Then, I ask the student what frustrates him/her most about math and we work some problems to locate any misconceptions or gaps the student has developed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
16 years experience teaching 8th and 9th grades, math 1, math 2 in North Carolina.
