About
I originally went to school for a degree in math education and learned a lot about how to teach mathematics for students from kindergarten to high school! I currently work as a paraprofessional with students that have IEP's and 504 plans in school, which has given me experience with adapting lessons to meet peoples individual needs.
As a tutor my approach is student centered, and I try to focus on breaking math concepts down into simple, manageable steps and explaining concepts to students in multiple ways until it clicks! I believe confidence is just as important as content and stive to make my lessons a safe space to ask questions and to make mistake.
As a college graduate, where all of my classes were math-focused, I understand what it feels like to hate math. This experience led to my personal saying of "Math is fun, when you know what you're doing." I always strive to help students realized that not understanding something is frustrating but it also makes it incredibly rewarding when it finally clicks.
