Though I was surrounded by different languages at home, English became my favorite subject throughout middle and high school.
I scored a 5 on the AP English Language and AP English Literature exams in high school, a 35 and a 33 on the English and Reading portions of the ACT respectively, edited tens of college essays during my senior year, and was awarded with the Times News Alamance Awards in English in 2019.
As someone who learned English as their second language, I have experience in both helping others grasp English as a language and understand its nuances within its grammar context.
I am currently a senior in college and am majoring in English and Communications, and have taken a range of English classes throughout my academic career, from film theory to Shakespeare to creative writing.
I love being able to share my love of English with others! As with any other subject, I know some concepts can be more difficult to grasp than others, and my goal is to help students gain a full understanding of the subject at their pace.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, we will discuss the student's short and long-term goals in receiving tutoring, and their learning preferances. Do they need clarification for a specific concept? What questions do they currently have about the subject? Answering these questions gives me a better understanding of how I can best help them in their studies.
