My name is Julia and I have a bachelors in elementary education and a Masters in Reading Education from Methodist university. I have a passion for working with students 1 on 1 to help them reach the goals they have set. I have been in the field of education for 17 years and I have been a licensed teacher for 9 years.
I love helping students reach their fullest potential! I work with you as the parent to create a plan that will support the needs of your child. No two plans are the same!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will have an introductory consultation to get to know the student and create a learning plan with the parents. A time line will be created and specific benchmarks set.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the field of education for 17 years. I am a licensed k-6 teacher and a licensed reading specialist k-12. I have a Masters degree in Reading education and an advanced TESOL certificate.

How did you get started teaching?
I found my passion for teaching when I was a junior in high school. I found myself being mentored by many teachers who encouraged me to work with children full time.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide variety of children. From children with learning disabilities, those who are just learning English and the academically gifted.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I currently teach children in China English. It is one of my favorite activities to do!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find the person who you feel you can trust and feel comfort with. A large part of learning is making mistakes. If you don't feel comfortable making mistakes with a teacher, you will not be able to learn to the best of your ability.
