About
As a skilled English literature teacher, I can help students decode their own writing and the writing of others. With me, students can learn and develop skills in anything from crafting an argumentative essay to honing their grammatical understanding of English to acing the ACT.
I love being able to see students grow in their skills and confidence in their writing; too often, students have a disproportionate view of what they're capable of. My favorite part of teaching and tutoring is nurturing their independence, creativity, and confidence while tangibly developing their language and writing skills.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Establishing a baseline by assessing their understanding is the first priority. From there, the student and I work together to establish goals and a timeline. Then, I prepare exercises that the student and I work through, gradually increasing the level of autonomy and difficulty.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Duke University in 2017 with a Master's of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in English. Before that, I graduated in 2016 from UNC Chapel Hill with Honors in English and Hispanic Linguistics. During my undergraduate, I tutored at the Writing Center for three years, receiving extensive training in working with students of all backgrounds, ability levels, and learning styles.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing is $70 per hour for in-person sessions and $60 per hour for online sessions. My extensive experience and education guarantee results, and the in-person sessions are a higher rate due to commute time.
How did you get started teaching?
I fell in love with helping other people in high school, but didn't come to realize my path in teaching until I worked at a book nonprofit in Durham in 2014. I pivoted to a career in teaching and never looked back. I love what I do!
