About
I am extremely passionate about ensuring that the hard work of my students leads to great results! I understand that many people really struggle with English, grammar, spelling, and such; I love to help them understand these subjects better. If a student happens to fall in love with the subject we are practicing, I am even happier! Qualifications/Accomplishments/Awards: I am an English major at Duke University. During the summer of 2019, I attended a 2-week cultural-exchange program called Between the Lines at the University of Iowa's International Writing Program. It was focused on creative writing and instructed by award-winning poets and writers from the U.S. and abroad. I was published in an anthology produced by the program. I got an A on my International Baccalaureate (IB) extended essay. I scored a 7 on my IB English Language and Literature exam. I scored a 35 on the English section of the ACT Test. I scored a 34 on the Reading section of the ACT Test. In 2018, I received the AP Scholar with Honor Award. In 2019, I received the AP Scholar with Distinction Award. In 2019, I was the Black History Essay Writing Contest winner.
I really enjoy helping students see their potential. I have been doing private tutoring for a couple of years now, and I must say that it is a very rewarding field. I believe that a tutor should help their tutee thoroughly understand the subeject they are teaching; I am happiest when I am able to help my tutee feel confident with the material.
