I have done this before. I do it for the joy of teaching. I am motivated to see that speial look in the eye of the student when the message gets through. A smile usually follows. I am retired and enjoy golf and working with others, helping them learn. I teach and consult to adults and find the world today has been formed by our history. Europe still is important now.

As a college Special education bachelor's graduate at the wonderful Pennsylvania State University k-12 material is still quite relevant and fresh in my mind. I have worked with variety of ages, from kindergarteners to seniors and High School. I get to know each individual student and their personal goals. I will provide quick, concise responses for those in a hurry, and slow, methodic teaching for those looking to understand the material on a deeper level. I welcome parent feedback and will alter my methods based on parental goals as well. I am a certified elementary teacher in all subject areas and a certified language art (English) teache

What is disability in special education?

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) identifies 13 disability categories where special education should be provided.

  • Auditory Impairment (AI) – refers to a hearing loss not categorized by deafness.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – mainly affects a child's social and communication skills and behavior.
  • Deafness – covers kids who can't hear most or all sounds, even with a hearing aid.

  • Emotional Disturbance (ED) – various mental health issues such as anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression.
  • Intellectual Disability (ID) – covers disabilities such as below-average intellectual abilities, poor communication or social skills, and poor self care. One example is down syndrome.

Reviews for Charlotte special education tutors

Recent success stories from people in the Charlotte area.
Stella And F.
Lynn has worked with our family for a year and she is simply amazing! She makes learning fun yet challenging for our 12-year-old son. To minimize the summer learning drop, she created a summer enrichment plan and our son was able to start the new school year prepared, and confident, and has even helped other students out. We are so Blessed to have Lynn as our son's tutor. She's more than a tutor to us. Lynn is a part of our family.

Reina started working with my son a month ago. He is in 8th grade and has ADHD which has made getting him the right tutor difficult to say the least. Reina has been excellent with him, he really trusts and connects with her. His english and history grades picked up from almost failing to Bs. She is truly one of a kind!
