About
I am a Level 5 Certified teacher with K-12 experience. I teach all subjects, and am happy to switch back and forth based on individual need. Sometimes when my students bring their homework to me, it's like they've never seen it before. That's OK! Together, we walk through everything step by step until he or she feels proud and confident. Kids: Does it feel like your teacher is speaking a foreign language sometimes? Or does it feel like your mind is wandering everywhere when you're in class until you're pretty lost? YOU'RE NOT ALONE! I felt the same way in Math as a kid. English, Reading and Language Arts can be just as tough. What about all the details to learn and remember in Science, and Social Studies?! Mean teachers make it even worse. Parents: Are you baffled as to why your child's grades aren't demonstrating how smart he or she is? Do you feel like your child's teachers aren't being supportive enough? Let's try something new! In my experience, love and dedication go a long way...
I love kids! They definitely keep me on my toes. I like switching between age group and subjects from one hour to the next. on Mondays, for example: I have a 4th grader, a 6th grader, a 1st grader and a kindergartener. I also currently work with several other middle and high school students as well. I also love getting to know the awesome parents that so clearly LOVE their children.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start by finding out who they are as individuals. There are 9 different intelligences (according to Howard Gardner)....that is to say, there are at least 9 different ways a person can be a genius. I like to find out what your genius is, and show it to you. It shocks me to find out that so many kids actually feel dumb. Most schools focus on only 2 of those 9 intelligences: which are basically Reading and Math. Most kids are strong in one and weaker in the other. Realizing that can help you to become so much better in what you're struggling with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters degree in Teaching from Piedmont College
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
K-5th $35-40/hr
6th-8th $40-45/hr
9th-12th $40-50/hr
How did you get started teaching?
It's the family business :) My parents were both teachers, so I guess it just came naturally to me.
What types of students have you worked with?
I can't think of an age group, or academic challenge that I haven't worked with.
