My experience has been teaching grades K-12, teaching students with specific learning needs, such as: ADHD, Autism (verbal and nonverbal) or ESL. I teach English, Literacy, Speech and Math (Algebra I, II, Geometry, Statistics). My best practices for keeping classes engaging are: implementing fun but educational activities (to improve student memory retention or their ability to grasp the nuggets of each lesson), intriguing warmups, sharing positive reinforcement for student participation, utilizin

As a current college student, all K-12 material is fresh in my mind, with reading and writing being my favorite subjects. I have worked with various students with different ages and backgrounds, and pride myself on making sure I build a connection with each individual personally. My main goal is to get to know each student's short term and long-term goals. Each teaching method is set to accommodate the students learning style. I always welcome parental feedback and will alter my methods that best fit the student and parent's wants and needs.

Ellie B. says, "I am very pleased with Tanay. I recruited him for my grandson who failed first semester 12 grade math. We have seen a major improvement with Tanay working with him. Tanay corresponds with my grandson's math teacher for upcoming math topics that now allows assignments to be completed ahead of time. The math teacher seems to be impressed with Tanay and his tutoring skills. " Read more

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) identifies 13 disability categories where special education should be provided.

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – mainly affects a child's social and communication skills and behavior.
  • Deafness – covers kids who can't hear most or all sounds, even with a hearing aid.
  • Deaf-Blindness (DB) – covers kids with both severe hearing and vision loss that requires unique programs.
  • Emotional Disturbance (ED) – various mental health issues such as anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression.
  • Intellectual Disability (ID) – covers disabilities such as below-average intellectual abilities, poor communication or social skills, and poor self care. One example is down syndrome.

  • Orthopedic Impairment (OI) – covers impairments in kids who lack function or ability in their bodies, such as cerebral palsy.
  • Other Health Impairment (OHI) – conditions that limit a child's strength, energy, or alertness such as ADHD.
  • Specific learning disability (SLD) – conditions such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, auditory processing disorder, or nonverbal learning disability.
  • Speech or Language Impairment (SI) – covers difficulties such as stuttering, pronouncing words, making sounds with the voice, or understanding words.
