Charlotte English Lit And Language Tutoring
About
I am an experienced teacher in CMS with an undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature. I also have a masters degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of London at Birkbeck. I have a lot of academic experience as well as social experience with getting students motivated about their learning and their goals.
At the core, I love to learn and I love to help other people learn. I believe education is important no matter what form it is in. I really enjoy helping people accomplish a goal and helping students learn.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I first meet a new student or a new class I like to get to know who they are as people first. I find that if you are able to establish trust with your students or at least find a common ground, that the teaching and learning process is more positive for everyone.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a North Carolina teaching license as well as an undergraduate and masters degree. I also stay current on literature in my field and attend teaching workshops.
How did you get started teaching?
After graduating with a degree in Applied Linguistics I started applying to many different jobs related to that field. I eventually accepted a job teaching college students in an academic intensive program and found that I have both a knack and passion for teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
I primarily work with students who speak English as a second language or students with learning disabilities. I also work with general education students but my experience with non gen ed students means I have a strong emphasis on differentiation and communication.
