Emily Writing Coach
About
In my career, I've worked with a varietly of students in various skill levels and grade levels. The majority of my experience is in middle school grammar and literature, but my most recent experience is with coaching college level essays and cover letters. Although I've work remotely over the past, I try to provide skills and tools to help students succeed. I hope that I will be the right tutor for you!
Talking about literature and seeing the concepts click with students is an exhilerating experience. Students' eyes light up when they connect with a concept. I also enjoy learning new things and perspectives from students when I read their essays.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I give a brief introduction, try to understand what student feels he/she wants to get out of tutoring, and then give a practice test to access their current skills.

I was trained at Penn State University in secondary education with a minor in English. I've also recieved Academically and Intellectually Gifted training within the public school system.
How did you get started teaching?

There isn't just one event. I've had multiple times recently where my former middle schoolers have come up to me to say 'hi' and tell me about their future plans. My first patch of middle schoolers in this district are about to graduate and I'm proud of them.
