About

I've tutored off and on as a side job here and there, including being chosen by my school as a peer tutor during high school for the ACT exam to help bring other students to the benchmarks in a particular category. My specialization has always been with math, up to calculus, but I have experience tutoring English and chemistry. I have also completed a B.S. in computer science. I'm excited to share my knowledge with students and patiently working with them to help achieve their academic goals. Throughout my life, I've always enjoyed helping other people succeed. That spark of joy from the moment when someone finally understands a concept after many attempts makes tutoring fun to me.

    Frequently asked questions

I like to learn the students learning style, so I can best adapt my teaching to fit that. Then I like to ask what concepts are easy for them and what they struggle with. The most important aspect of the learning process is communication. To help a student successfully, I have to constantly be listening for feedback to know when to try new approaches and when to continue moving forward.

I have a B.S. in computer science, and have completed many STEM courses throughout school. I also have tutoring experience in math, English, chemistry, and ACT test prep.

Pricing may vary by subject, but I'm willing to work for $30-40 an hour.

I started teaching when I realized I enjoyed working closely with other people and have a knack for explaining concepts in ways catered to an individual. I also noticed the feedback I received tended to indicate that those I had helped seemed to enjoy the experience as much as me.

I've typically worked with students in their weaker subjects, who need a little more time to understand the concepts. Some students have been discouraged and fallen behind, and I've needed to help them catch up to the fast pace of most math classes, especially in high school or college.

Find someone you can connect with and feel comfortable being honest with. It's much easier for both the teacher and student can talk through issues effectively and makes the learning process less stressful, more engaging, and more fun.

What do I want to learn from this session(s)? How can I explain this need in a way that the teacher will be able to fulfill? What are my best learning styles (visual, verbal, hands-on practice, etc)?
