The English Fox
About
I am a currently high school and college English Instructor. I specialize in college-level writing and revision, as well as British and American Literature. I hold a B.A. in English Literature and a M.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing with a concentration in Fiction. I am just finishing up my 10th year of teaching.
I really enjoy seeing a kid's face when they finally "get it." That, to me, is the best thing about being a teacher!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
While parents can certainly give me a general overview of what their child needs, I really like to be able to sit down with a new student and talk about their concerns. What has worked well for their learning in the past? What hasn't? Are they more of a tactile, visual, or kinesthetic learner?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.A. - English Literature
M.A. - English Literarture & Creative Writing
High school teacher - 10 years
College instructor - 8 years
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Due to planning time, face-to-face time, and the reflection process, I prefer to not go below $35/hour. Each lesson is individualized for your student!
How did you get started teaching?
My teaching career was, quite simply, an accident! An English teacher at the high school from which I graduated quit a few days before the school year began. The principal knew I had a degree in English, and I was thrown into a classroom two weeks into the school year. During my first year of teaching, I completed lateral entry teaching certification classes and my Master's degree.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from nearly every walk of life: the inspired, the feet-draggers, ADHD, gifted, dyslexic, upper-class, middle-class, lower-class.
