In high school, I started a tutoring club for middle school students who were struggling in math and science, and I loved seeing them start to understand different material. I bring lots of enthusiasm to my tutoring sessions and try to make learning new things as fun as possible! I am a pre-med student majoring in biochemistry at Montana State University, and currently have a 4.0. I graduated second in my high school class and received a 1550 on the SAT.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually start the tutoring process by getting to know the student, and understanding the areas that they are struggling in. I think that it's important to address earlier material that may not have been thoroughly understood before introducing more complex ideas.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started tutoring about 4 years ago, and have obtained many skills by trial and error. I also have taken calculus 1 and 2, organic chemistry 1 and 2, genetics, AP chemistry, IB math HL, IB biology HL and received an A in each of them.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I usually charge about $25-$35 per hour depending on the age of the student and the subject.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked mainly with students who are struggling academically to both complete their work on time, and to understand it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The most important thing is to make sure that you are comfortable being honest with your tutor. You should never feel embarrassed about the grades you have received, or not understanding the material. I also think it's important to make sure that the tutor knows not only the material, but how to teach it in a way that a student could understand and master it.
