Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process with a new student is for each students' parent and/or guardian(s) to complete a survey that would better equip the tutor with knowledge of areas of improvement. Upon completion of the survey, a contract will be emailed to the parent/guardian(s) to agree upon the needs of the tutor and fees and a consultation will be scheduled via Microsoft TEAMS.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Mississippi Valley State University. I also have 3 1/2 years of teaching experience ranging from Elementary to High School.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard pricing for individual tutoring is $30 per hour. Standard pricing for group session tutoring is $20 per hour. If I have to travel to the student for tutorial services, there is an additional 0.50 charge per mile.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching because while in college I began to teach in a summer program that was offered by my department as a Pre-Service Teacher. This gave undergraduates that were going to teach upon graduation an opportunity to teach high school students Algebra.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all students, all ranging from the ages of Kindergarten to eleventh grade.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event that I was fond of was having the opportunity to participate in facilitating Math Circles with my previous job. It was an enrichment program that allowed students the chance to explore mathematics through activities.
