I am a student through Jackson State University majoring in Mathematics, I am an advocate when it comes to the education of my students as well as my own. Recently I left a tutoring institute to better my quality and attend more to my own studies.
I am familiar with 2nd-8th Grade Mathematics following the Common Core standards also have assisted with other homework assignments and projects.
When it comes to working with student. I enjoy giving students the encourage to ask questions and make mistakes in order to gain better understanding. It makes my day to see not only grades improving but the actual understanding on a concept.

Dealing with Math, typically I ask the student/parent to send a picture of recent homework via email/text so I can get a feel of where we need to begin. Usually, the first session will focus on getting a better understanding of where the student needs help and getting feedback to find a learning style that fits best.
While most of our work will be done using small dry erase boards. I provide students with an example to refer back to and explaining concepts.
Through experience in childcare, I also assist with homework and over the summers going over math and reading comprehension. From there I gained experience through an after-school program in Jackson where I retaught math concepts to 5th graders. In addition, I was blessed with the opportunity to volunteer as an academic assistant for a children's home in Madison my senior year in high school.
