I am a certified high school math teacher with a degree in computer science from the University of Virginia and a masters in mathematics education from Columbia University. I taught high school math in NYC for 5 years and am now a full time SAT/ACT and math tutor. I am currently located in the St. Louis area but work with students from all over the world.
How does it work?
1. First, we set up a time for the first session. This can be done over Tutors.com, phone call, or you can book me directly via my website: louisehigginstutoring.com
2. Next, we exchange Skype names so we can connect for a voice call (no webcam required). We'll use an online whiteboard to work out problems together.
3. I will give you a call on Skype when it's time for us to get started!
I would love to help you get your best score on this test. Looking forward to working with you :)
Louise was a godsend! She knows her stuff, is a fun teacher, and has a gentle touch. Our daughter loved her! We used her for the final two weeks before taking the SATs (mainly math) and wished we had hired her from the start instead of the Princeton Review. Live and learn :)
Our daughter has enjoyed working with Louise. It has helped her feel more comfortable starting freshman Algebra. Louise has been professional and the communication has been outstanding.

I have a masters degree in Math Education from Columbia University and am certified to teach high school in the state of Illinois. I was a high school math teacher in NYC for five years and have been tutoring online for an additional six.
Please note that payment is due 24 hours before each session. If no payment is received by that time, the lesson will be considered cancelled and a make-up session will need to be scheduled, though I cannot guarantee that your child's preferred time slot will still be available.
I studied computer science in college and worked as a computer programmer for a government defense contractor near Washington, D.C. during the summers. As I got close to graduation, I felt called into the teaching profession and picked math because there is a great need for math teachers in many areas, and because, well, I love it.
My clients are smart, motivated high school juniors and seniors who need help taking their SAT or ACT score to the next level so they can get into a particular school or program, or qualify for more money in scholarships. I work with students from all over the U.S. and from other countries as well.
I had two students score a 34 on the most recent ACT - way to go!!! One of them came to me with a baseline of 29 and we worked together for 18 hours. The other started with a 30 and we only needed 7 hours.
What kind of results do your students get? Not just one or two star performers, but on average? My average increase on the ACT is 4 points, and on the SAT it is 120 points. These kinds of increases have made a significant difference in which schools will open my students' applications for review, and what kind of scholarship money they can receive.
